Eastgate Soccer plans to hold the competition across the same nights Beech Photography is taking player and team photos at Clepper Park. Stay tuned to this website and your coach for the dates Beech Photography will be at Clepper Park. Eastgate Soccer Association will set up a judging area not far from the photo shoot so keep your eyes peeled for us.

The competition will be fierce and we know we have some talented soccer jugglers already. So get in all the practice you can!!

We will also be offering certificates for any child that reaches one of the three star levels.

Winners will be notified by email October 30th, 2010.

See the Competition link above for full competition details and help on how to get started with Soccer Juggling.

Glen Este High School Cheerleaders to run concession stand on Saturdays.
(8/18/10)

The Glen Este High School Cheerleaders will be running the Clepper Park concession stand for every Saturday in the months of September and October.

We will be selling items such as hot dogs, walking tacos, pop, Gatorade, ring pops, and other items.  Our prices will range from $.50-$2.50.  You will be able to get a combo meal with a drink, chips, and hot dog for $2.00. We are going to try and sell coffee and hot chocolate on the cold mornings.

We are running the concession stand to help the girls off set the costs of cheerleading.  Each cheerleader has to pay anywhere from $700-$900 per year to cheer. That helps pay for camp at Miami University, spirit wear, cheerleading shoes, body suits, pompoms, socks, hair bows, and competitions.  We are really hoping the soccer organization will support the cheerleaders by buying our items.  We are trying to make the prices reasonable.

Our cheerleaders just got back from Miami University and the Varsity and J.V. Squads both took three 1st places and one second. They worked extremely hard and we are very proud of them.  They bring the material back and teach to younger girls that are hoping to try out for Jr. High or Recreational Leagues.

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you all in September.

Thanks so much,

Kelli M. Maggard and Bonnie Kenney

Their individual achievement not only advances their own love and understanding of the game but also expands their skill set as a coach, helping them be the best they can be. It is the outstanding commitment and vision of these coaches that ensures Eastgate Soccer Association will continue to be the best it can be when serving the youth of West Clermont.

Who We Are, What We Do
Eastgate Soccer Assocation is a not for profit organization that strives to promote and teach soccer to the youth of the Eastgate Community, or to be more exact, the youth of the West Clermont School District. West Clermont School District (see list below for included schools), is a suburb on the east side of Cincinnati in Ohio. We also have many children from private and charter schools as well as those who are being taught by an in-home school program.

Eastgate Soccer in a proud participator in Cincinnati Hills SAY Soccer and a proud member of the Soccer Association for Youth (SAY). Eastgate Soccer participates in the Cincinnati Hills SAY Soccer recreational league. This league includes eight  recreational soccer districts. These districts are; Deer Park, Eastgate, Fairfax, Indian Hill, Madeira, Mariemont, Reading & Terrace Park.

Eastgate Soccer is a recreational soccer club serving children and teens, from age 3 up through age 18. Children/Teens are not required to try-out and we will teach all that wish to learn. Recreational soccer leagues are designed to be just that; recreational and fun. That is not to say there is not any competition. There is plenty of that.

Eastgate Soccer is not an organization centered around the team win and will not sacrifice whatever it takes to accomplish that team win.

Eastgate Soccer is an organization centered around developing players to achieve their maximum potential (and more importantly, to just have fun).

It is our primary goal to develop every player to the best of their ability, both mentally and physically. It is also our primary goal to develop a player of outstanding character and sportsmanship. And lastly, it is our primary goal to develop a passion for the sport in every player.

We look forward to seeing you on the fields!!

Parking at Clepper Park - Police Notice

Parents, Union Township Police Department has asked that no one park on the grass at Clepper Park. Clepper Park has four parking lots conveniently located around the park. Please park in one of these designated parking areas only. Union Township Police Department will start issuing tickets for anyone parked in the grass.
Treatment of Referees.(Parents read as well)

Eastgate wants coaches to pay particular attention to referees - especially young referees. Like the players you are coaching they are also developing and learning. A coach should never shout at a referee or be verbally abusive. Shouting at a young referee will cause just as much damage, if not more, as if that coach were shouting at their own players. It also teaches your own players to be disrespectful and to conduct themselves with poor sportsmanship. Your players watch what you do and how you act. You are there number one example on the field!

If you feel there were any bad calls made we ask that coaches politely and calmly address these with the referee at the end of the game. Do not interfere with the referee during the game on what you consider a bad call.

If you feel the referee was biased, unfit or incompetent we ask they you address the issue with the referee coordinator (refereecoordinator@eastgatesoccer.org).

We ask that you introduce yourself to the referees at the beginning of the game and ask that you offer encouragement, thanks and appreciation at the end of the game.

As a coach you can also play an important role in that young referees development by offering constructive post-game comments.

We do not want to hear of any more young referees leaving the profession and even the sport because of an abusive coach!

We also expect parents to be as equally as respectful to referees. Referees, especially younger ones, will make mistakes. Cheer your kids on. Bring any issues you have about certain calls made by referees to your coach, not the referee. We don't want referees being approached (ambushed) by parents.
STAY SAFE - Keep your kids hydrated!

August is going to be HOT!  Please make sure players stay hydrated.  I always tell parents as rule of thumb on practice/game days players should consume 60% of body weight in ounces of water throughout the day.  Example: Kid weighs 100lbs, 60% of 100 is 60 ounces of water.

A recent interview with a paramedic/coach at the SAY coaches clinic just held this last week in Mariemont revealed he receives 2 calls a week regarding minors and heat related illnesses. Many of these not  because a child failed to hydrate during practice but because that child did not properly hydrate throughout the day prior to practice.

Common symptoms of heat exhaustion include weakness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. It is recommended that if a child is experiencing these symptoms they rest in an air-conditioned car, any excess clothing is removed and they are hydrated.

Failure may result in heat-stroke. Common symptoms of heat stroke is the absence of sweating with flushed dry skin, disorientation, confusion, strange behavior, hallucinations and possibly even leading to seizure or coma. Please call 911 immediately if any of these later symptoms occur.

Aging Goals To Be Replaced
(8/7/10)
Eastgate Soccer Association will be partnering with Union Township to split the cost of new goals for the Strikers (U12+) field and Wings (U10) fields. Eastgate Soccer plans to replace the Passers (U8) goals next Fall. Eastgate Soccer decided to replace the Strikers and Wings fields first because those goals are in the worst condition. The Association plans to replace the goals with semi-permanent goals rather than fixed goals to offer more practice drill possibilities to coaches. We hope to have the goals in place before the first game weekend.

New Uniform Policy
(5/22/10)

There will be a new uniform policy starting in the Fall 2010 season. Owing to continued lack of uniform returns Eastgate is making a uniform policy change. Eastgate will now charge $20 per child for a uniform. The new uniform now includes 1 x shirt, 1 x shorts & 1 x pair socks. The uniform now becomes player property. So at the end of the season the uniform is yours and can be carried across multiple seasons.

This policy ONLY applies Passers (U8) through Seniors (U19).

Dribblers (U6) are exempt and ONLY need to submit the registration fee. A t-shirt is provided in the Dribblers (U6) fee. Dribblers (U6) will still need to provide their own shorts & socks.

All players still need to provide their own soccer shoes and shin guards.

See the "Uniform Policy" and "Equipment Policy" sections of the FAQs page for more details.
